Is this the same treatment I receive from my dentist?

Professional teeth whitening is a cosmetic service. This is quite different from the procedures performed at your local dentist office. Teeth whitening should not take the place of dental cleanings or exams. If you have not seen a dentist in over a year, we suggest that you have a routine check up/cleaning to maintain good oral health and consider using whitening products only after your dental visit and exam.

What is the active ingredient?

35% carbamide peroxide. This is considered professional grade and will not be found in a store. It is the highest percentage legal in all states. Any gels with higher concentrations are considered dental grade and can only be administered by a dental professional.

What is the lamp that you use?

The lamp we use is a LED whitening lamp. It is not a laser nor does it produce radiation. The LED whitening lamp works as a slight heating source. It activates the molecules in the whitening gel to successfully remove stains from the enamel in a shorter amount of time.

How long of a session should I book?

At Mountains to Shore we recommend at least a 1 hour session for your first appointment. Depending on your personal needs, you can safely sit for 120 minutes for a single session.

How white will my teeth become?

It is impossible to tell how many shades a person's teeth will whiten. Results differ for every person. LED light teeth whitening is targeted towards extrinsic (surface) stains however many clients have intrinsic (below the enamel) stains and cannot be removed with our treatment. Results are a direct reflection of how you take care of your teeth, how long you have had your stains, what type of stains they are, genetics and any other pre-existing dental issues.

How long will my results last?

That all depends on you and your habits. Things like smoking, drinking coffee or red wine or eating food such as red sauce will eventually start to stain your teeth again. A good rule of thumb is "if it will stain a white shirt, it will stain your teeth". For the best results, we recommend a touch up every 2 - 4 months.

I have veneers, caps, crowns, porcelain or another form of artificial teeth. Can I still have a treatment?

Yes! But the artificial tooth/teeth will not whiten past the original shade it was when the dentist placed it in your mouth. Any surface stains on the tooth/teeth can be removed but the tooth itself will not move past its original shade.
